Weekend hair splurge: PHILIP B.

Do you ever wonder why some hair care products cost $10 and others $140?  Being a hair stylist, beauty expert, product junky and female I have tried many products over the years.  Some I have tossed out immediately, some I still have ½ of and others I buy every time I go to the salon.  The big question is WHAT makes the price differ so?  Is it the ingredients, the packaging, the marking team or budget?  I decided to try out the well-known $140 Russian Amber shampoo from Philip B.

Let me start by describing my hair and normal regime.  I am a natural brunette with a fair amount of hair, medium to fine texture (more when I have my extensions in) and I am not afraid to admit it.  I took part in the ombre trend, so I do have some split ends covered with bleach in my medium length hair.  I shampoo and condition about every other day with Aloxxi hydrating shampoo and conditioner.  For styling I use a leave in conditioner spray followed by a blow dry lotion or lightweight gel to help smooth and give my limp strands some body.  From start to finish it takes me about 20/30min.  Not so bad.  Do I think I neeeed a $140 shampoo? No, do I want one… sure if my hair will be amazing!
This shampoo comes in a jar like a conditioning masque and looks like Carmel.  It breaks down in your hands once water is added and lathered up. To start, this particular shampoo has some major hair strengthening ingredients written right on the label.  11 active L – amino acids, you know what those are right? It's what your hair is made of. Other ingredients that stand out is the Soy protein, wheat proteins, vitamin B5 and amber oil.  Have you seen another shampoo with those ingredients? I haven't.  Between the pricy ingredients and the gorgeous eye catching packaging you have yourself one luxurious shampoo.

After 3 weeks of using Philip B Russian Amber shampoo every other day my hair did feel amazing, it had life, bounce and shine!  The smell is one to fall in love with it's powdery and sweet yet a little earthy.  So does this shampoo stand out in a crowed? For me it does. It may not be my every day or even once a week shampoo, but defiantly in the mix, possibly once every 2 weeks.  My hair truly looks healthy, feels strong and defiantly has some major shine.
*Lets consider this product as a worthy splurge, which will not be going out of style any time soon!
