ClassPass launches in Orange County!

I love trying out new work out classes, and lets be honest it seems about every month there is a new studio popping up with a "new" style of work out.
I usually stick with the basic running (see 1/2 marathon post) and Pilates to lengthen and lean.  Given I have attended the same studios for years, give or take a few in between,  I really enjoy the opportunity ClassPass gives me to check out other local options with out a significant commitment.  My first class was at Club Pilates Costa Mesa, I know its my norm, but it gave me a chance to check out another studio while still staying within my comfort zone. Brittany, the instructor was very welcoming and super friendly, the class was about 1/2 full and she payed close attention to everyone.
I have to say the best part of ClassPass is the confidence that comes along with it.  I didn't feel like I was walking in with a Groupon or paid for a discounted service, the studio treated me like I was a regular member.  Next up is Grit cycle and Dailey Method! both studios I have never been to and workouts I have not participated in for years!!! Check out ClassPass and their participating studios Here

Summer Happenings in OC

Its hard to believe summer is half way over.  There are still so much we want to do!  Here are some fun things happening in Orange County the next couple of weeks...even some kid-friendly stuff too!

1. 2014 Orange County Fair
If you're looking for fun rides and fried EVERYTHING, the OC Fair is the place to be!  They even have special events like concerts and wine tasting!  Last day of the fair is August 10th.

2. 2014 Vans US Open of Surfing
Spend a warm day in Huntington Beach with the family and dozens of the world's most talented surfers.  Starts July 26th through August 3rd.

3. Movies in the Park
I've always wanted to bring a picnic and watch a old class like Wizard of Oz.  Such as great way to spend a night with the entire family!  Check your nearest park for showtimes and availability.

4. 6th Annual Lobsterfest at Newport Beach
If you're a seafood lover, can't miss this event.  Maine Lobster is flown in and celebrated with various accompaniments and topped off with live entertainment.  Event takes place on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 from 3-8 p.m. at Newport Beach Back Bay.

5. Basic Beach day with a good book
What's not to love about a good beach day. Even if the Pacific Ocean is a bit too cold for your taste, the warm summer breeze and sunshine is bound to put anybody in a good mood.  Add a good summer read, and you're golden...

Happy summer!

St Patty's Day...in the OC!

If I could celebrate St Patty’s Day anywhere this weekend, it would probably Chicago.  Not only because the city is amazing, but celebrations include dying the Chicago River green.  True holiday spirit!

But this year we’ll settle for something local in Newport Beach. Surprisingly we do have a few locales to choose from.  St Patty's Day is simply about fun...and well, massive amounts of beer drinking, just like the Irish intended.  So really, a clean table, soda bread and Guinness on tap are all you need!

Muldoons Pub - 202 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660

Malarkys Irish Pub - 3011 Newport Blvd. Newport Beach, CA 92663

Cheers!

Newport Beach Restaurant Week - Wish List

If you live or work anywhere near Newport Beach, you've probably seen this sign....

This annual affair is minuscule compared to its LA counterpart, DineLA, or even the county's version, OC Restaurant Week; Nevertheless, these 10 days are much anticipated by locals in these parts of OC beach cities.  And our foodie hearts are no exception!

Wile we already frequent many of the participating restaurants, its always fun to see how they bring together the old favorites with new seasonal introductions on the fixed menus.  Its definitely an opportunity to stray from our staples - bruschetta, hummus, cheese plate, and the ever generic cobb salad - and try something new and exciting!  The HARA BARA PALAK KOFTA/SPINACH ROULADE on Tamarind of London's menu sounds adventurous, don't you think!?

Newport Beach Restaurant Week officially starts today, so of course we're well prepared with a list of GO-TOs:

  1. Tamarind of London, Newport Coast { Wasn't kidding about the Hara Bara Palak!}
  2. Five Crowns, CDM
  3. Summer House, CDM
  4. Bambu Restaurant & Lounge
  5. Lark Creek, Fashion Island
  6. Bayside Restaurant
  7. Crow Bar and Kitchen, CDM

So many choices, so little time!  We'll be back with photos and details of everything we devour.

Happy Weekend!

Xoxo!
